Troutdale's Kazuo Fujii Dies.

Farmer. Veteran of WWII. Namesake of Fujii berry, fruit, and vegetable farms across east Multnomah County. Troutdale native. Strawberry lover. Our prayers go out to his family.

From the Gresham Outlook:
"Kaz was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Troutdale, the second of eight children, to Bukichi and Yoshino (Yamakado) Fujii, both Japanese immigrants. Kaz and his siblings attended Troutdale Grade School. He graduated from Gresham High School in 1937.

Everyone worked on the 49-acre family farm on Cherry Park Road, where they raised cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts and berries; including blackberries, raspberries, boysenberries, loganberries and strawberries."

This is nice. My mom and I were just talking about him, and saying we wished we could've visited his grave on Memorial Day. He was my grandpa and I miss him.
