Travel Channel-Europe Visits Troutdale

While eating breakfast and shooting the political breeze at the Troutdale General Store early this morning, a video crew from The Travel Channel-Europe showed up. After eating breakfast themselves, they headed outside and began shooting footage along Historic Columbia River Highway. Good for them!

Here's the text of a press release from Travel Oregon that explains what's happening:

Travel Oregon is pleased to announce the commitment to support a Global Branding Campaign with the production of the Travel Channel Europe Television Series that will be broadcast for three years in 48 million households across Europe, twice weekly in prime time spots. The broadcast will be aired in Oregon's target markets of Germany, United Kingdom, Benelux, France, and Italy.

Travel Oregon has secured seven episodes in the 13 episode series with thematic storytelling that will include Oregon Bounty, Wild West and Native American culture, Eco Travel/Sustainability, Outdoor recreation (spring/summer/fall/winter), Water and Marine, Lifestyle and Urban Life.

The multi media opportunities for this 3-year Television series for Oregon's tourism industry that includes regional destination marketing organizations, chambers of commerce, State Parks, area attractions, accommodations, restaurants, cultural and performing arts, food, wine, local agricultural producing artisans, annual events and historical attractions will brand Oregon as a year around travel destination for the European traveler.

Research has determined that the International traveler stays a minimum of four days, travels mid-week and understands the dollar value of U.S. travel destinations.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to expand Travel Oregon's position in the European market and increase market share for the entire state" said Teresa O'Neill, Director of International Sales and Marketing, Travel Oregon.
