Portland State Vikings fans got an early Christmas gift Tuesday night when the Portland State men's basketball team beat #7 Gonzaga 77-70. The victory over a top 25 team was a first for the Vikings since reinstating their basketball program in 1996.
'The Vikings had to fight the region's terrible weather just to get to the game in Spokane. They traveled by bus to Seattle where they spent the night. Then they bused many hours across Washington and ended up in Spokane only 3 1/2 hours before the game. Although they didn't have time for a pre-game practice, their field goal percentage for the game was over 45%.
Way to go, Viking!
