According to Troutdale police, someone broke into Troutdale's parks and recreation maintenance building behind the Troutdale Outlet Mall sometime last night. In addition to tools, the thieves also helped themselves to several Motorola two-way radios.
Then "stupid is as stupid does" kicked in. At approx. 9:30pm last night, Troutdale police officers listening to the city's radio network heard two men giggling and laughing about their theft, and making plans to buy beer at the Plaid Pantry in downtown Troutdale.
So the officers just walked a couple blocks from Troutdale's police station to the Plaid Pantry, just in time to see two transients walk into the store, wearing the radios on their hips.
The two suspects were booked into the Justice Center on suspicion of theft charges and released.
You can't make this stuff up!
