Today's Oregonian article about Rep. Blumenauer's Sept. 23 town hall meeting described much applause for one Portland resident's call for President Bush's public execution. (See also my previous post, "Portland Peace Movement: Execute Bush")
The Execute Bush apologists over at Blue Oregon have set the record straight. Anonymous poster "NSGN" explains, "If I had a dime for every time I've heard people fantasize about stringing Bush up by his toenails or his teeny weeny balls, or dangling him out of an airplane without a parachute, I'd be rich."
It's just a fantasy, then, "NSGN" says! They wouldn't just out and out execute the President! He's entitled to due process!
"NSGN" explained , "I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that this administration's crimes could not end on death row. People in this country have been executed for far less heinous crimes against humanity, and war criminals like Adolf Eichmann have indeed been publicly executed in the last century (and, as an ethnic Jew and Gypsy, I don't disagree with that). But clearly we're not talking about calling out the lynch mob, we're talking about a fair trial via impeachment (which I don't think would happen with this supreme court) or in an international court, which I think would be more just."
I feel much better knowing they're not talking about calling out the lynch mob, don't you? After all, the left's legacy regarding due process is well known.

The irony of a "peace movement" calling for execution is not lost on me. However, attributing the events at the end of your post to "the left" is baseless inflammatory rhetoric. By the context of your statement, you are implying that the modern, U.S. political "left" is in league with or political agreement with the regimes that you list that committed these atrocities. That is simply not so, you are stretching too far to make your point.
