House Speaker Karen Minnis' office has notified the City of Troutdale that SB1098 passed, which prohibits the Port of Portland from making any expenditure from any sources if the dollars are to be used to build an intermodal facility between now and 2012.
This is great news for Troutdale and the entire east county area.

That's great news. I was visiting Truckdale (from Kansas City) several years ago when I picked up a paper with an article titled "Don't Turn Troutdale into Truckdale". So, I was just wondering how that turned out.
After a big fight to save K.C.'s Richards-Gebaur Airbase from conversion to an intermodal facility (a fight which was lost despite massive local opposition), I thought "Oh, No! It's happening here, too!"
So, I'm releived that the good people of Troutdale won't have to put up with that.
