MHCRC Seeks Citizen Comment re: Verizon Cable TV Services

The Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission (MHCRC) is seeking comments from interested members of the public regarding a proposed franchise agreement with Verizon to provide cable television services to residents of the Cities of Fairview, Gresham, Troutdale, Wood Village and some areas of unincorporated Multnomah County. Input and comments from citizens and community organizations are critical in helping the MHCRC and the East County City Councils and Multnomah County Board establish local communication policies which support local access to communications technology, provide consumer protection and promote competition in commercial services. Please attend the public hearing on Monday, September 15, 2008, 7:00 pm, at MetroEast Community Media, 829 NE 8th St., Gresham, OR. The Hearing will be cablecast live on Channel 29 on all cable systems in Multnomah County and will offer live call-in capability for people to provide comment by phone. A summary of franchise components; a comparison chart with the current Comcast franchise requirements; and the draft franchise will be available through the MHCRC's website as early as September 3. For more information please contact the MHCRC at (503) 823.5385 or mhcrcinfo@ci.portland.or.us.
